New Research Tool for HireAbility's Recruiter Network
By Andrew Stock
One of the major paradigm shifts in the staffing
industry has been the widespread use of the Internet
to locate talent. Since the late 90s, there has been
an explosion of job boards and online databases from
which to choose. However, subscribing to all of
them
is just impractical, and sorting through the deluge of
candidates available is impossible. Recruiters needed
a single tool with the ability to sort this data
(resumes) to locate specific talent without spending
the extra time to read and search for them manually.
HireAbility evaluated several tools on the market in
order to locate a solution that would yield the
fastest
results, meet the budget requirements of the
average
small staffing group, and search the highest volume
of job boards and resume sources. After evaluating
three of the most popular tools on the market, we
found that TalentHook fulfilled the evaluation criteria
best.
As with any recruiting tool, the goal is to enable
recruiters to spend less time searching and more...

New and Improved AccordingtoDanny.com

Danny Cahill went live recently with upgrades and
changes to his renowned state-of-the-art training
website, www.AccordingToDanny.com. In 2002,
Danny launched the website, after more than a
decade of providing the industry with revolutionary
training products. Danny decided to use the power
of the Internet to expand his offering to include a
user- friendly, interactive website and web
conferencing.
“The commitment to training is often the key
differentiator in whether or not a firm can breed a
crop of top producers,” Danny told us, "From MRI to
the sole practitioner, training is crucial to reaching a
firm’s potential. Today’s technology allows us to
continue providing the CDs, books, and DVDs our
clients have come to rely on, but also offer real-time
training. Not only can I bring to market brand new
techniques, I can reach more firms faster. And the
training is much more affordable than at any other
time in history. For the same investment, rather
than flying me in once a year, you can have me in
your office once a month for an interactive web
meeting. Where it used to be that owners were
starved for new relevant training material, now you
can access the repository of training material my
team has spent the last 5 years building. Through
our membership website, an owner can get those
tools 24 hours a day, 365 days a year."
Hundreds of firms across North America are members
of the AccordingToDanny website. Hundreds more
attend the AccordingToDanny retreats, selling out
the seats. Danny’s ever popular CDs, DVDs, and
books are available on his site. AccordingToDanny
fuses the tried-and-true methods of recruiter
education with revolutionary, cutting edge Internet
tools to provide the staffing industry with its most
comprehensive and accessible programs.
For the last 15 years Danny has been training and
mentoring recruiters around the world, including
members of the prestigious Pinnacle Society, an
organization of 75 of the top recruiters in the United
States. This fall, in recognition of all of his efforts
and achievements, Danny Cahill was inducted into
the NAPS Hall of Fame, after being hailed the "Most
Popular Trainer" of all time. So if you don't know

Ask Miss J -- Fun & Advice

Miss J - The Thanksgiving Episode…
In 1620, Miss J's relatives locked up their Plymouth
hovel and clambered onto the good ship
Boyyouwereduped (Welsh for “Tranquil Seas,”
they
were told). Thinking they were embarking on a
package holiday to Spain, they put on their little 17th
century Speedos under the pilgrim garb and went to
look for the ship’s bar. Little did they know that a
couple of months later they would be landing on a
pile of rocks and lunching on crustaceans (served in a
wild berry vinaigrette) with the locals. After a
particularly nasty bout of food poisoning (along with
the scurvy) they felt they had little to be thankful
for. Not only that, but they also lost their deposit on
the hotel!
But here, in the present day, Miss J ponders on
their "rocky" start and gives thanks for Virgin Airlines
and the free sleep shade and cozy socks. Her own
journey to these great United States was a little
more comfortable. She stops her ponder and delves
into the massive mailbag full of the thousands of
questions that she gets monthly. Diving headfirst
into the bag, she scrabbles at the bottom for a
question with a Thanksgiving twist. After half an
hour she emerges from the depths of the bag, hair
awry, triumphantly holding a post card above her
head…
Dear Miss J,
I have been in this business for years and on the
whole it has been good to me. But I have had
enough! Another candidate just pulled the "I
have another offer which I am going to take"
carpet from beneath my feet! ARRRR! What am I
getting out of all of this? Why am I here? What is
the meaning of life? Talk about Thanksgiving, it’s I
who feels like a turkey — trussed and stuffed!
Sincerely,
Feeling Foul from Turkey, Kentucky
Dear Feeling Foul,
Now calm down… This is the business that we
are in. We sell a "product" that walks, talks, and has
needs and wants. We have to expect that from time
to time this will happen. The only thing we can do is
to sit back and go over the whole thing and look at
what we did right and what we did that we might
want to do differently another time. So be thankful
that you can use this as a learning lesson and that if
you did something incorrectly, you are unlikely to do
it again!
