LinkedIn - Networking At Its Finest
Successful recruiters are those who can best
leverage their professional relationships to find the
right matches. Within large companies this too is
clear: employee referrals, for example, generate 10
times more hires than the largest online job board
(CareerXRoads 2004 study). LinkedIn is about
relationships - and about enlisting the help of people
you know in a non-intrusive manner, in order to find
people who can provide business value to you. Over
2.1 million professionals find jobs, people and
opportunities recommended by their trusted contacts
using LinkedIn today.
LinkedIn Jobs is a new application powered by
LinkedIn's powerful online network. It allows
recruiters, HR professionals and hiring managers to
place their job listings in front of a pool of passive
candidates that is of considerably higher quality than
the active job seekers who typically frequent online
job boards. LinkedIn allows you to approach passive
candidates via people they know and trust, in a way
that provides control and transparency to all parties
involved. Passive candidates are more likely to
respond to these types of warm introductions versus
a cold-call.

Danny Cahill on Keeping the Candidate "Warm"
|
|
HireAbility brings to you another thought-provoking
question posed to recruitment business coach, Danny
Cahill, and his expert answer. You can ask
your own recruitment or business questions on his
website (click the logo above).
Question:
My client is searching for a compliance rep. Position
has been open for over two months. My candidate
interviews, they like him, but he is the first candidate
and they'd like to interview one or two more. My
candidate is very interested; I've already closed him.
Client understands this is a tough fill based on
compensation, he mentioned this in email... How do I
keep him warm and retain his interest level and get
my client to HIRE?
Danny Cahill Replies:
Your question gave me the same sinking feeling in my
stomach that I used to get from far too many first
dates. I would think that we were both madly in love,
that there was instant chemistry. When I call for the
second date, however, I'm told that she just wants
to be friends. But first things first...

Ask Miss J -- Fun & Advice
|

Click on Miss J's photo (to the left) to email your
recruitment questions and problems to her!
Dear Miss J:
Help me! My major client, who earns me huge
amounts and therefore has attained a godlike status
both to me and our friend the bank manager, has
asked me to conduct face-to-face interviews with
everyone that I send him. Ok, I can give that a go
but I work out of my house and I have never
conducted face-to-face interviews. So where do I go
and how am I going to organize all of these? How do
I know if someone is pulling the wool, or the entire
sheep, over my eyes? As you can imagine the bank
manager would really like me to become an expert on
all of this!
Bettina from Booger Hollow, AR
Dear Bettina:
First piece of advice, take a chill pill! We can sort
this all out and make you the interviewing diva of all
Arkansas!
As with every task that you undertake, you want the
interviews to run smoothly and without event, so
planning is key. First, organize your venue. I know
that you envisioned a line of candidates waiting
outside your basement bulkhead waiting to descend
into the murky depths for their interviews, but we
can do better than that...
